1970s

Early 1970s, Singapore Assay Office staff was sent to United Kingdom to learn about the testing of gold. This was to support many of the gold activities that were developing in Singapore that made the testing of gold necessary.

In 1978, the Singapore Assay Office gained certification from the London Gold Market as an Acceptable Assayer. This is only awarded when the highest levels of assaying expertise is achieved. Singapore Assay Office was the first to receive this award from the organization.
