The X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry is an alternative method to traditional methods like fire assay. This is a non-destructive test and the analysis only takes a few minutes.
The radiation from an X-ray tube excites the sample to emit X-ray fluorescence radiation that is a characteristic for each element. The detector registers the energy spectrum.
The elements in the samples can be identified through the characteristic energies of the peaks of the spectrum. The concentrations of the elements are determined by the intensity of their radiation.
